Office 365 Benefits

Reduce Support

Take advantage of the power of the cloud by moving mainline business applications to the cloud. When you move applications to the cloud:

  • It reduces your need for in-house support resources used to manage applications and infrastructure
  • It provides users with a consistent interface and operating environment, reducing their support and training requirements
  • It allows you to simplify your operating environment – reducing the numbers of applications and versions under management

NYT will work with you to determine which if any applications should be moved to the cloud and we will work with you to develop a business case and IT support cost savings[1].

Reduce License and Management Costs

Eliminate the need to manage software licensing, pay for software updates and remove the risk of software license audits.

Office 365 has no large upfront investments. Only a fixed monthly fee per user, which makes it easy to budget, monitor costs and ensure you only pay for what you need. This typically includes the latest version of Office for Professionals (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Lync, Access, InfoPath and OneNote), SharePoint Online and Exchange Online.

Improve Collaboration and Sharing

There is a huge need for quality collaboration and sharing tools. Unfortunately, most don’t deliver what you require or they are very expensive to implement, customize and maintain.

Office 365 runs on an Enterprise Microsoft infrastructure with applications that were built to integrate easily and offer anywhere, anytime access using the cloud.

Microsoft SharePoint Online brings together the familiar Microsoft SharePoint Server technology now delivered as an online service to make the power of the cloud work for your business.

SharePoint Online helps businesses create sites to share documents and insights with colleagues, partners, and customers.

  • Manage and share personal documents and insights with colleagues by using MySites.
  • Keep teams in sync with shared document libraries, task lists, and calendars with Team Sites.
  • Stay up to date on company news, events, and business updates with Intranet Sites.
  • Create Microsoft Office documents and save them directly to SharePoint Online.
  • A single console for service provisioning, monitoring, and reporting to simplify management.
  • Protect sensitive content with document-level permissions.
  • Access important documents offline by using SharePoint Workspace.
  • Enable real-time communication with colleagues from within SharePoint Online.

Storage and Backup

Backup needs vary greatly from business to business. NYT can help you establish your backup needs and explain how you can best address them.

In many cases, Office 365 Cloud based services will include all the storage you need along with the benefit of a managed backup system that can address each and every one of your employees. All without the need for additional backup hardware, maintenance or aggravation when you’re looking to find needing to find archived data.

Please note that the amount of storage you need, and the ideal backup regime, vary according to the business applications you deliver from the cloud, the number of users you support and the criticality of the business data stored in the cloud.

Disaster Recovery

Cloud-based solutions inherently include comprehensive backup and disaster recovery functions to protect your business data.

With Office 365 your data is secure and safe with 7 geo-redundant data centers around the world. If there is a failure at one location, your data is automatically replicated and mirrored in another. You never have to worry about loss of data from a hardware failure.

Talk to your NYT consultant to understand the disaster recovery processes and time intervals, to ensure that these meet your business requirements.

Onsite Hardware Reduction

When you move business applications to the cloud you reduce the need to procure and manage server hardware in house which automatically reduces hardware and associated maintenance costs. You also reduce software procurement and license costs associated with most business applications.

Ask NYT to evaluate your current hardware and recommend what applications should be moved and which should remain on premise. NYT may recommend some hardware consolidation as part of the migration engagement.
